The best camping memories usually begin after the sun goes down. So, I went camping this weekend, and it turned out to be nothing like what I would've expected it to be. Let me give you some context about me: I've never considered myself a nature girl, never liked the woods, or the bugs, or the cold… nothing related to being outdoors too much. I actually lived in the mountains for a decade, and still never found it to be fascinating and never really enjoyed it.However, since I've grown older, I have the desire to be in contact with nature more and more. I would love to have a huge garden one day, to plant and later eat my own food, to walk barefoot on the grass, and to swim in lakes or rivers. So, when my boyfriend suggested we go camping for our anniversary, I was actually excited. We ended up leaving for two nights, and it was just amazing. The first time I went camping, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I thought I'd miss my bed, my shower, and basically every comfort I had left at home. This time, the opposite happened. Once everything was set up and I could finally relax outside, I realized how much I genuinely loved being there. My favorite moment came after sunset. I remember sitting outside the tent, looking up, and being completely surprised by how many stars I could actually see. Without city lights everywhere, the sky looked completely different. I stayed there much longer than planned, wrapped in a blanket, trying, and mostly failing, to recognize different constellations above me.By the end of the trip, even the uncomfortable parts had become part of the fun. Sure, sleeping on the ground wasn't exactly luxurious, and every mysterious noise outside the tent made me slightly nervous. But I came home already wanting to go camping again. Apparently, all it took to win me over was a tent, some fresh air, and a sky full of stars.
