Should you have to pay full price when replacing something? Most people have some amount of attachment to their belongings. Some folks might feel pretty zen about letting things go, but odds are there are still some things you're clinging to. And if something gets broken, stolen, or lost, you might feel some type of way about it. But at the end of the day, things are just things, and you should be prioritizing your human relationships over your items. That's not what happened here, though, in a story u/Independent_Ear_7719 shared to the AITAH subreddit. The girlfriend in this story was so attached to her hair curler that a replacement wasn't enough. She needed her boyfriend to pay extra for it. Paying full price for something when you don't have to is a pretty strange move. No matter how much money you have, money doesn't grow on trees. You can't just spend extra for the sake of spending extra. That's a slap in the face to the value of the dollar. On the other hand, though, money can be a pretty emotional thing. It would be foolish to deny the emotional aspect of making certain purchases, especially for your significant other. Think of all the expectations around engagement rings. You're supposed to spend enough money on them that it hurts a little bit. So does this transfer to other areas of your life?
