Did you wish to be secretly a princess when you were a kid? It was every little girl's dream. The gowns, the luxury, the glamour, and the beauty of it all sounded amazing. And now that Disney, along with Anne Hathaway herself, has confirmed the third movie, we are eager to go back to Genovia one last time!The two original movies have so much heart and emotion that it is hard to guess how they will top that. It was rare that the second movie was as good as the first, considering that sequels usually tend not to do justice to the original. This was an exception, and we got to see a more mature Mia, living in Genovia and fully embracing her identity as a princess with responsibilities towards her kingdom. But the lovely thing is that she kept her clumsiness and her romantic personality, the things that made her relatable to us, viewers. Who on earth has a long-lost grandmother who shows up from nowhere to tell you you're actually royalty? Not a very believable premise in and of itself. However, the wisdom and care of Julie Andrews' character and the youthfulness and innocence of Anne Hathaway are what made their bond so real. We don't know yet what to expect from the third one. It will be a shock to see Mia without her grandmother, since Andrews confirmed she won't be reprising her role. We all remember a young, enthusiastic Mia who was learning to be a princess under her grandmother's guidance. Now, she will be queen, a grown woman with years of experience on the throne. She will no longer have a mentor; maybe she'll have a princess of her own now to guide. We don't know, but it's a possibility. What we hope is that they manage to integrate her new wisdom and experience with that warmth and naivete that made us fall in love with her the first time. As long as they keep her essence and do it with love and care, we will have a lovely movie to finally close the storyline that started 25 years ago.And in the meantime, while we wait for them to finish the script, we can go back to the original movies and laugh at the memes they gave us!
